ECHL Playoff Situation - 4/8 Update

With just over 10 days left in the ECHL season, playoff races are intensifying as teams fight to clinch their spot in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The top four teams in each division qualify for the playoffs. This time next year, we’re hoping to be locked into a deep playoff run—but for now, let’s enjoy the last Kelly Cup Playoffs without the IRONHAWKS! Here’s a rundown of where things stand going into the final weeks of the season:

North Division:
The Wheeling Nailers continue to hold the top spot in the division with 94 points, while the Maine Mariners continue the chase. Maine has 86 points with six games remaining. The Reading Royals and Adirondack Thunder are holding strong in the 3 and 4 seeds—only two points separate the teams. Trois-Rivières is still alive with 71 points, with Worcester’s chances narrowing. Norfolk and Greensboro have been eliminated.

South Division:
The Florida Everblades have officially clinched the South Division as one of two teams in the league to break 100 points. The South Carolina Stingrays have overtaken Atlanta for the second spot—they have 90 points, while the Gladiators have 88. Both teams have four games remaining. Savannah still sits in the 4 spot as the only team currently holding a playoff position, with the Jacksonville Icemen and Greenville Swamp Rabbits still in contention for that last South Division slot. The Orlando Solar Bears have officially been eliminated from the playoffs.

Central Division:
The push to the playoffs continues in the Central, with the Toledo Walleye and Fort Wayne Komets inching closer to season’s end—just one point separates them. That leaves two remaining spots available for Kalamazoo, Indy, Cincinnati, and Bloomington. Three of those teams hold 72 points, while Bloomington has 69. The Iowa Heartlanders, who announced their suspension for the 2026–27 season, have been eliminated from contention.

West Division:
A lot has changed in the last week in the West, with the Kansas City Mavericks clinching not only the division, but also the Brabham Cup as the league’s points winner for the ‘25/’26 season. KC currently has 110 points with five games remaining. The Allen Americans join the Idaho Steelheads in clinching a spot. Idaho has a solid lead in second with three games left, while the Americans have six games remaining and a possible 12 points on the table. The Tahoe Knight Monsters currently sit in fourth in the West Division with four games remaining—they’ll look to hold off the Wichita Thunder, who are currently in sixth place but have six games remaining and are the only team that can mathematically reach Tahoe. Rapid City, Tulsa, and Utah have been eliminated. The future IRONHAWKS—Utah Grizzlies—currently have 65 points with three games remaining.
